CBAAC'S CALENDAR
Activities for the Year 2001 

INFORMATION MANAGEMENT DIVISION

  • Production of Documentary Films from the video recordings on dances, music, cultural similarities among the Black and African People.

  • Screening ‘quad’ (magnetic) tapes on Festac to determine their level of efficiency.

  • Documentation of National/International cultural events vis-à-vis photo coverage, audio and video recordings.

  • Production of CDs (compact discs) from the U-matic to VHS and Reel-to-Reel tapes on Festac '77 vis a vis dance, language dresses, education, colloquium proceedings etc.

  • Outreach programmes to tertiary institutions, schools, autonomous communities through films and photo Exhibitions.

  • Dubbing of celluloid films on Black and African Culture and civilization to CD, VHS formats.

  • Developing a website for internet presence at CBAAC

  • Organizing computer/Internet Training programme for staff.

  • Updating the audio studio to reflect the new trends in technology – editing suite, video projector, compact discs.

  • Purchase of additional computers.

EXHIBITION AND MUSEUM DIVISION
The Division shall endeavor to implement the under listed proposed programmes.

  • Remodeling CBAAC Exhibition:- The museum gallery will be re- organized to conform to modern standards of museum exhibition all over the world.

DOCUMENTATION

  • The museum artifacts are to be catalogued and classified in accordance with classification scheme adopted by ICOM (International Commission for Museum) i.e. the chronological method of cataloguing, bearing the Date of entry, Description, Register, Mode of Acquisition.

  • Museum Education Unit engage in public enlightenment programmes by organizing lectures, symposia, researches, demonstration of arts and crafts.

  • Museum Technical Laboratory with chemicals  : Salamon, Xylamon or Govi, Silica Gel, Badacry, Xylene, Dichlorobenzene

ACQUISITION

  • To augment existing collections by acquisition of artifacts as an ongoing exercise.

  • Conservation and preservation: this involves the control and regulation of, temperature    and humidity.

EXHIBITION
There shall be quarterly international exhibition which either be jointly hosted by CBAAC and  other sister organizations or solely by CBAAC. This will include:

  • Nigerian Masks.

  • Nigerian Leather works to mark the Commonwealth Day and Nigeria's 41st Independence Anniversary celebrations. The Division also intends to market the following works to be printed:

  • Greeting cards

  • Annual printing of CBAAC calendar

  • Making plastic souvenir of Key holders

  • Printing CBAAC Logo on T-shirts.

  • To participate in PanaFest coming up in Ghana between August and September 2001. Utilizing materials in the centre including the ethnographic collections for a Black and African Hall of Fame.
